This is our first try at doing a Blog and it sole purpose is to help you help us by providing us with your "horror stories". For the last 16 years I have been working directly with the real estate industry and I have plenty of stories of my own but that isn't enough. We need YOURS!.
Louise Kennedy a former Remax Broker/Manager representing the real estate industry for over 25 years and my 30 years of insurance experience make us a powerful force for insurance reform. We need to open doors and meet our elected officals but to create the opportunities for laws to be enacted, that is where we need YOU to contribute.
Use the site often and share it with everyone you know. We will never have a better chance to bring about change in the insurance industry by way of the real estate industry!
Our first Insurance Reform is a mandatory flood insurance class for all licensed insurance agents. This is where we always got the most compliants so we want to start here. As I often say it you don't like the way it is, complain! Here is a source for you to do just that!
Question:
1) Have you ever have a closing that did not take place or almost did not take place because of flood insurance?
2) Did you discover after the closing that your flood insurance premiums could have been less than what they were quoted?
If you will give us the name of the agent and/or the insurance company involved we will not only send your stories to our elected officials but to their companies attention, too. For us to file the story with the Complaint Dept we will need the name of the insurance agent involved. Otherwise, just share your stories with us and we will pass them on to those that can make changes in our laws.
3) Do you want to help us bring about Insurance Reform in Louisiana? If so, join our Alpha Alert list. When asked to contact elected officials we will email you and we will provide you with the links through our Advocacy section of this website.
We are now building our base of elected officials that will receive your "horror stories". Along with the Insurance committees in the Capital, will be our local city council members betweeen here and Baton Rouge, our state elected officials and our Senators Landrieu and Vittner. The Commissioner of Insurance, our insurance associations that we belong to and the Complaint Dept where applicable.
If you don't see an elected official that you want added, just give us the info and we will include them. The more people that see and read what has happened to our citizens all these years, the quicker we can bring about positive change.
